This leaflet has been developed by the International Sweeteners Association (ISA) and aims to provide you with factual, science-based information on low calorie sweeteners, their role and benefits. We hope that it will be a useful resource in which you will find answers to common myths or questions about low calorie sweeteners and insightful information on how they can be used as part of a healthy diet.
It includes an overview of the scientific evidence behind the benefits that low calorie sweeteners can offer, as well as further information related to the history, safety assessment and approval of low calorie sweeteners by regulatory authorities in Europe.

Developed as part of ISA online campaign in support of World Diabetes Day 2016 and under the umbrella theme “It’s easy to start with one simple step!”, this insightful infographic explains the importance of getting small, everyday choices right in order to help people live a healthier life with diabetes without complications. In line with the overall ISA campaign on this occasion, a key aim of this infographic is also to address in a creative and informative way the key lifestyle and dietary guidelines for people with diabetes, including the role low calorie sweeteners can play in helping manage blood glucose levels as a safe option to enjoy sweet taste without calories and most importantly without affecting blood glucose and insulin.
